| Hello there, I currently have an infra red cat flap that never quite worked properly, as well as my cats having the habit of losing their collars. The Pet Porte seems like the ideal solution, but I wanted to see if anybody had experience of replacing an existing cat flap with this and any issues they may have encountered. My current cat flap (Staywell 500 Infra Red) is fitted in a uPVC door and dimensions of this are (taken from their website): Overall size: 241mm x 252mm (9 1/4" x 9 3/4") Cut out size Glass: Diameter 212mm (8 3/8") Cut out size Wood: 168mm x 175mm (6 1/2" x 6 3/4") I had this fitted as part of a new door and wouldn't overly trust myself to do the job for fear of ruining the door. Does anybody have any suggestions about who would be best to contact to carry out this work; should I go back to the people who originally fitted the cat flap? Many thanks for all your help Regards, Mark |

| What area of the country are you in? Chances are that any existing hole needs enlarging to fit the Pet Porte as it is one of the largest on the market. See this page for dimensions: Pet Porte dimensions?

| Of course it is very simple to do it yourself. All you need is a saw. Simply enlarge the hole according to the door template that is supplied. Then you will have a perfect fit. Even if you are not very neat the Pet Porte will make it look perfectly neat once you fit the two halves together!

| We replaced our initial cheap flap with the Petporte - it was pretty easy as my other half used a jigsaw power tool to make the hole bigger. He also attached a cheap piece of wood from B&Q to the door itself as we needed to make it wider to accommodate the bigger depth the Petporte needed as our door was too thin. He put some wood beading round the edge of the wood and painted it and it looks fine. |
