It's in and it's brilliant!! Well the wait was worth it! Programmed our cat very easily as he was asleep on the bed - he did wake up at the 3 beeps but was ok with it.
Installed it tonight - prob took longer than normal, we attached another piece of wood to the door as we had to make the width thicker then adjusted the hole with a jigsaw as this flap's bigger than our original one but as my other half's a bit of a diy star it wasn't too painful. Rocky sat on the wall in the garden and watched the proceedings!
We left it in open mode to get him used to it and within an hour he appeared through the flap - which is bizarre as when we're at home he always comes to the windowsill at the front to be let in as he can't be bothered going round the back to use the flap!
Then as he was asleep on the sofa we put it in normal chip-reading mode as we nipped out for a pizza and thought at least he can get out if he needs to but he won't be besieged if he stays in! Came back - let him out and left it in normal mode. We thought at least we'll hear him banging the flap if for some reason it doesn't read him. Within an hour he appeared back through the flap! We'd switched the beep off in case it scared in, heard him coming through the kitchen. He did jump as he was halfway across the kitchen when it locked - he prob thought something was coming behind him but he'll get used to that.
So now as I type there's another cat pushing trying to get in to no avail and Rocky's food can be left out for when he wants it (and I'll sleep very soundly tonight knowing I don't have to listen out for multiple cats coming up the stairs!)
Fantastic - thanks very much!! |
